How to you find out the age for an old bottle of Martell VSOP?

I have found an unopened bottle of Martell VSOP. How can I find out how old it is? I have the box as well.|||Some antique dealers are familiar with old liquor bottles. They should be able to point you in the right direction if they don't know themselves. Antique bottles are valued based on rarity and brand popularity. Martell is not particularly popular nor rare, so it probably is not worth much, but could make a nice display item in a liquor cabinet.

In case you weren't aware...realize that liquor does not continue to age once it is bottled, so the quality of the liquor does not improve with time. The age of the liquor is determined by when it is removed from the oak barrels and bottled...unlike wine. With cognac, this is similar in that the VSOP (very special old pale) is determined when it is bottled, and does not change.|||I can only offer what I would do in your place: There is a local liquor store that specializes in wine and fine liquor. They have been in business for many years, so may have some idea what the bottles looked like. I would take it to someone there and ask if they could tell.

If it looks like this:

then it's probably fairly recent.|||Read the lable
